Bruno Philip, csc

Originaire de la ville de Gap dans les Alpes Françaises, Bruno Philip a débuté sa carrière en théâtre. Il a étudié au Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique de Québec et à l’école du Cirque de Paris dirigée par Annie Fratellini. Depuis, diplômé en Production Cinématographique à l’université Concordia, Bruno a été régulièrement employé dans l’industrie comme directeur photo et réalisateur. Ses expériences de travail l’ont amené à voyager un peu partout à travers le monde. Il est membre du Canadian Society of Cinematographers depuis 1998.

Comme Directeur de la Photographie, il a signé les images d'une quinzaine de longs-métrages dont Francœur: Exit pour nomades, The Second Arrival Golden Scroll Award of Merit (Los Angeles) en 1998, Snowboard Academy,Someone is Watching, Life in the Balance, Suspicious Minds,Heavy Metal F.A.K.K.2, premier long-métrage canadien à être complété numériquement, Artificial Lies et récemment Les Immortels.

Comme réalisateur, outre de nombreux courts-métrages, pubs et clips, Philip a réalisé les séries télé Visez dans le mille et Driving Force et un long-métrage Island Rythms pour Showtime.

Ardent défenseur du court-métrage, Bruno a photographié Ice Cold qui s’est mérité un CSC Award, Honey and Ashes, une première production canadienne à être entièrement tournée en combinant Steadicam et Haute Définition, Pendant ce temps, Water Sports,Un film de cinéastes, film d’ouverture des Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois 1995.

Bruno Philip possède une expertise unique dans la post production numérique, un savoir-faire étendu pour les tournages de CGI et une solide expérience pour les séquences d’action. Sa signature: finesse artistique et versatilité créative.

Originally from France , Bruno Philip spent the early part of his career studying and working in theater, he attended the Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique, and also apprenticed at the world renowned Annie Fratellini Circus school in Paris . In 1985, Bruno Philip obtained his B.A. from Concordia University in film production. Since then, he has worked as director of photography and as a director/DP. His work experiences have taken him on shoots to Russia , Europe , the United States and the East and West Coasts of Canada . He is a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers since 1998.

As Director of photography, he put his signature on more than fifteen features which include:Francœur: Exit pour nomades, The Second Arrival which won the 1998 Golden Scroll Award of Merit (Los Angeles) for outstanding achievement in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films Snowboard Academy, Someone is Watching, Life in the Balance, Suspicious Minds,Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. first Canadian feature film to be completed digitally, Artificial Lies and recently Les Immortels.

As director, besides numerous short films, commercials and music videos, Philip has directed the Visez dans le mille and Driving Force TVseries and a feature film Island Rythms for Showtime.

Passionate defender of short films, Bruno has lensed Ice Cold which won a CSC Award, Honey and Ashes, first Canadian production to be entirely shot mixing Steadicam and High Definition, Pendant ce temps, Water Sports,Un film de cinéastes, which opened the Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois 1995.

Bruno Philip has a unique expertise in all aspects of digital post production, an extensive knowledge in CGI shoot requirements, and a solid experience in feature length action films. His signature is his artistic finesse, his creative versatility bringing to all his productions quality and excellence.
